D is turning 5 tomorrow. And he couldn't be happier about it. For real. I mean so pumped about it, and I'm having trouble putting my finger on why, but he is.
And it's great. He has said things like 'This is the last Saturday I'll be 4' 'I'm going to lose a tooth soon because 5 year olds lose teeth.'
Stuff like that and it's been just fantastic.
He's also had a couple of odd gift requests.
1) Kindle - keep in mind that he can't read so that's an odd one IMO. While he loves looking at mine, sometime making reading a real problem for me (this doesn't happen with hard cover books)
2) Petzl head lamp. I got mine out the other day for the pending snow storm and it's been on his head every day since. I'm torn. He would love it but @ the same time -- $40 for an after thought gift is a little bit much don't you think.
We're having a "super hero" themed birthday party on Saturday and (shocker) we're encouraging all of the kids to wear costumes. Will be curious to see who does and who does not.
It's also the first time that we're not hosting the party at our own house. I'm sure that would be a relief to the guy who came to D's 2nd birthday party that said 'WE WILL BE OUTSIDE' and yet his loafers got trashed (whoops -- sorry about that).
We decided the collective power and energy of 5 year olds was too much for our house to handle this winter -- which has just royally sucked so much this winter.
REI makes kids headlamps for $15!!
