I've been so over my VZW service that I've been looking for something new. I went and checked out T-Mobile and was actually pretty pleased. The price is great, the data speeds are amazing (consistenly 4MB down and up) and way way way faster than ATT or VZW but with only one big issue. Coverage.
We went on a little get away in CT and walking down mainstreet, I've got 4 bars on VZW and no bars on T-Mobile. No bars. as in can't make a phone call.
After hemming and hawing about it for a while, I decided that I just couldn't give up VZW (and I was getting creative -- maybe I'll just get a VZW pre paid for emergencies) etc and go back to 2002 (when I
switched to VZW) and have to worry about if I could make a phone call.
That just seemed like too big of a step backward.
VZW then promptly wasted 3 hours of my life trying to get a new BlackBerry working for me. But they did do one thing right for me. I gave an Android device a try on their network which I actually loved but the battery life was abizmal. I can't have a phone that can't even make it through the business day without getting recharged so I tried to return it, unforutnately, 20 hours after the 14 day return window
had passed.
It took a long time, but I finally got them to take the device back after I basically said I've been a long time VZW customer and I need a favor here. Finally the rep came back and made it happen, mentioning the reason that they were able to do it and convince her manager to make it happen was that I had a record of always paying my bill on time.
Who knew doing what you are supposed to do as a customer would pay off and make the difference when I'm in a jam.
But, the one thing that I did discover is that TMobile has amazing data speeds and I can't wait to get their MiFi when it comes out in a couple of weeks. Totally worth it.
