Foursquare is exploding and just can't get much hotter in the media. I've been doing it since October and there is only one way to put it -- it's fun for some strange and addictive reason.

But all of the sudden, after having the entire 'world' as my oyster and being the Mayor of just about whatever wherever I went, folks are catching on.  This morning, I got this note that bothered me waaaaay more than it should.

I know, I know, Zoolander is thinking it right now -- doesn't this guy have more things to worry about and I don't know how he has so much time on his hands to even think about junk like this.

Getting from Here to There

A lot of the city slickers, some of whom couldn't believe that I'd ever consider buying a place that didn't have a cross street have asked me about the commute. And to be honest, it's really been sitting with me very well. I really find it both relaxing and enjoyable. In fact, I'm like a little kid. I like to sit on the riverside of the train so that I can watch the river the whole way down.

I just love the view.

It's a very relaxing view and just really makes me feel good. I can't say that I've ever had a commute that I could say that about. And it's also going nearly full circle. When I first started commuting without a car, I lived right across the street from work. So from my desk to my bed was a 5-minute walk, including waiting for the elevator. It was awesome. El Capitan knows what it was like. Those were the good days. But the problem was that I'd end up still very fired up when I got home. I didn't have that cooling off period. I went directly from work to home and it kept me too wound up. So I got used to being able to walk out the door and shut it down immediately.

But now, I've got another transition and it's nice to have back. I have to admit that while the weekend felt short, with respect to the amount of things that I needed to do around the house, I felt really detached from work and that was great.
